I think that Ginger drinks, even plain Ginger Ale won't hurt but unless the ginger can be absorbed, which WON'T happen if the pyloric valve in the bottom of your stomach is closed because you are ALREADY sick, there will be NO relief.
I saw a medical study report recently that mentioned that ginger had the effect of opening the pyloric valve. If this is true then it may explain why it is effective.
It may be that the upchucking of seasickness
is not the seasickness(motion sickness) itself. I know that is a hard
concept
to get ahold of, but I have come to think that seasickness is in fact
several
separate problems.
1. A stomach that won't empty, eventually
resulting in upchucking.
2. Vertigo.
3. Physical stress.
4. Psychological stress.
5. Intestinal upset.
6. Smells.
7. ????
If we could put a electronic monitoring device on the pyloric valve and could detect when it was open, partially closed and full shut, we could learn alot
